Job Description

Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

· Prepare detailed cost estimates based on initial designs or project specifications.
· Prepare and manage project budgets and forecasts.
· Conduct cost-benefit analysis for construction methods, materials, and equipment.

Contract Management:

· Advise on procurement strategies, including tendering and selection of contractors.
· Draft and review contracts, ensuring the terms and conditions are favourable to the client.
· Administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle and resolve disputes or changes in scope.

Cost Control & Reporting:

· Monitor project expenditures and ensure the project stays within budget.
· Regularly update cost reports and present findings to senior stakeholders.
· Conduct cost audits and value engineering to optimize cost-efficiency.

Tendering & Negotiations:

· Assist in the preparation of tender documentation.
· Review and analyze contractor and supplier bids, providing recommendations.
· Negotiate prices, payment schedules, and terms with contractors and suppliers.

Risk Management:

· Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
· Evaluate and report on project risks related to time and cost.

Measurement & Valuation:

· Measure and quantify materials, labor, and other resources required for the project.
· Certify the work completed by contractors and verify final accounts.

Project Administration:

· Monitor and manage changes in scope, ensuring all changes are accounted for financially.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation of all financial transactions, project costs, and change orders.

Compliance and Standards:

· Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
· Ensure that construction work complies with building codes, safety standards, and sustainability guidelines.

Requirements

Skills & Qualifications

· Educational Background: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
· Certifications: Professional certifications, such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), can be highly beneficial.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in software such as MS Excel, CostX, or other cost management tools.
· Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze project costs, budgets, and financial data.
· Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate terms with suppliers and contractors effectively.
· Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for client and contractor interactions.
· Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in measuring and assessing costs and resources.
· Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to foresee potential issues and provide cost-effective solutions.
